Federico Varese

In academic life, we often plunder a paper or a book in search of what we need, without second thoughts. We take an argument, a finding or a useful distinction, and move on. Rarely do we pause to consider an author’s intellectual trajectory, the questions they have addressed across different works and how their views have changed. As ever busy with teaching and other commitments, we behave like intellectual magpies.
